In short
Local Slags is a no-strings dating site for UK adults aged 18 and over, run by Ambervine Inc. Joining, making a profile, browsing and receiving interest are free; reading and replying to messages needs a paid membership that renews until you cancel. Every photo is reviewed, but what members write isn't checked. Profiles are shared with partner sites in the same network.

Local Slags is for adults who want casual, no-strings dating and would rather say so plainly than dress it up. Here's what happens from sign-up to first message, and what the site does and doesn't check along the way.
From sign-up to first message
There are four steps, and the first three cost nothing.
Say what you're after
Be clear and honest on your profile.
Browse your area
See who's near you, free.
Chat first
Reading and replying is paid. Meet when you're both sure.
Sign up. You give an email address, a password and your date of birth. You must be 18 or over.
Build your profile. Add a photo and a few lines about what you're after. Every photo is reviewed before it appears, and photos showing nudity or underwear aren't allowed.
Browse. Have a look at who's around and receive interest from other members. All free.
Message. When you want to read and reply to messages, take out a membership. The prices page shows what each plan includes.
What's free and what needs a membership
Looking is free; talking is paid. The upgrade is what unlocks conversations and a few extras around them.
| Free | Needs a paid membership |
|---|---|
| Joining and creating a profile | Reading messages |
| Browsing other members | Replying to messages |
| Receiving interest | Read receipts and seeing who viewed you |
| Likes and viewing photos in full |
Free members also see adverts in the members area. Optional one-off extras, such as profile boosts and the ID badge, are listed on the prices page.
Writing a profile that gets the right replies
A good profile is short, honest and specific about what you want. Vague profiles attract vague messages; clear ones save everyone time.
- Say what you're after. For example: "Something casual, weekday evenings, no drama." That's an example, not a template, but it shows the idea.
- Say what you're not after. Lines like "not looking for anything serious" or "no photos before we've chatted" set boundaries early.
- Pick a photo that's you, but not your whole life. A clear, recent picture works; it doesn't need your workplace, your car's number plate or your kids in the background.
- Keep contact details off the profile. Swap numbers when you're ready, not before.
Our guide to saying what you want, and what you don't has more wording ideas.
Who can see your profile
Local Slags is part of a network of dating sites that share one member database. Members of partner sites in the same network can see your profile and message you, and you may hear from people who joined through a different site. A profile shows which site it was created on.
If you'd rather not be recognised, pick a username that isn't your real name, use photos that don't appear on your social media, and think twice about including your face in your main picture. The discretion guide has more on keeping casual dating private.
What's checked, and what isn't
Photos are reviewed; words aren't. It's worth being clear about this, because plenty of sites aren't.
| Item | Item |
|---|---|
| Profile photos | Every photo is reviewed before it goes live |
| What members write about themselves | Not checked |
| Age, name, location | Not independently verified at sign-up |
| ID verification | Optional paid badge (ID document plus a selfie, checked by LEM Verify). Required only in some cases, such as sign-ups through a VPN or flagged accounts |
So treat a profile as someone's own description of themselves, not a guarantee. The safety and consent page covers what to check before you meet, and the guide to spotting a fake profile lists the warning signs. If someone asks for money, pushes you off the site straight away or seems to be under 18, report them through the members help centre.
Who it suits, and who it doesn't
Local Slags suits adults who want something casual and are happy to be upfront about it. It's less suited to anyone after a long-term relationship, anyone who wants every member identity-checked, or anyone who'd be uncomfortable with their profile appearing on partner sites in the same network. If that's you, better to know now than after you've paid.
Paying, renewing and stopping
Memberships renew automatically until you cancel. To cancel, go to Settings > Billing in the members area before your renewal date. Checkout shows the price and the billing name that will appear on your card statement, so check both before you pay.
Cancelling stops future payments but leaves your profile in place. To remove your profile altogether, click your avatar, then Settings > Delete Account. Locked out? The log-in help page covers passwords and account settings.

Questions people ask
Can I see who's on there before paying?
Yes. Joining, creating a profile and browsing are free, and you can receive interest from other members without paying. You only need a membership when you want to read and reply to messages, so you can get a feel for who's around first.
Will people on other sites see my profile?
Yes. Local Slags shares one member database with partner sites in the same network, so members of those sites can find and message you, and a profile shows which site it was created on. If that matters to you, choose a username and photos you're comfortable being seen beyond this site.
Do I have to verify my ID?
Usually not. ID verification, by LEM Verify using an ID document and a selfie, is an optional paid badge. It's only required in some cases, for example if you sign up through a VPN or your account is flagged. The badge doesn't mean anything else about a member has been checked.
How do I cancel?
Go to Settings > Billing in the members area and cancel before your next renewal date. Cancelling stops future payments but leaves your profile in place; deleting your account (avatar > Settings > Delete Account) is a separate step.
