In short
Local Slags publishes free guides for UK adults who date casually: how to get a free STI test, a checklist for meeting someone new, consent and what UK law says, spotting fake profiles, keeping casual dating private, and reporting scams. Each guide cites primary sources such as the NHS, police and legislation, and shows when it was last checked.
Good casual dating is mostly about the boring bits done well: being clear about what you want, meeting sensibly, testing regularly and spotting the people who aren't what they claim. These guides cover exactly that, without the lectures.

Before, during and after a meet
The guides follow the order most people need them in.
- Before you meet: say what you want, check the person is real, and agree condoms and limits in chat.
- On the night: meet in public first, tell a friend, keep your drink with you, and remember either of you can change your mind at any point.
- Afterwards: get tested if you've had a new partner, and stop at the first request for money.
For the essentials on one page, start with safety and consent.
Local services where you live
Sexual health services and some reporting routes differ across the UK. The region pages list free clinics, home testing and support services for nine English regions plus Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, and the sexual health hub explains what clinics offer.
What the guides don't do
They don't rank other dating sites, describe sex in detail or promise results. They also don't replace a clinician, a solicitor or the police: where a situation needs one, the guide says who to contact and how. If you're in danger now, call 999.
How the guides are written
Each guide is written from primary sources: the NHS and its equivalents in Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland, police and fraud-reporting services, and the legislation itself. Sources are listed at the bottom of each guide, and the date shows when its facts were last checked. We don't use invented statistics, testimonials or experts, and example messages are labelled as examples. Guides are general information, not medical or legal advice. More on how the site is run is on the about page, and the checkable details are on the key facts page.
Questions people ask
Are the Local Slags guides free to read?
Yes. Every guide on this website is free, and you don't need an account or a membership to read them. They're written for anyone in the UK who dates casually, whether or not they ever join Local Slags, and none of the advice depends on using the site.
Where do the facts in the guides come from?
From primary sources: the NHS and its equivalents in Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland, the UK Health Security Agency, the police and fraud-reporting services, regulators and the legislation itself. Each guide lists its sources at the bottom and shows the date its facts were last checked.
Do the guides cover Scotland and Northern Ireland?
Yes. Where the law or services differ, the guides set out England and Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland separately: consent law, how to report fraud, home STI testing and sexual assault support all vary. The region pages add local clinics and contacts for each part of the UK.
