01

A cheeky name, a grown-up site

Local Slags is a UK casual dating site for consenting adults who want something fun, honest and uncomplicated. The name is a bit of British mischief that people have recognised for more than a decade. The site behind it is run by Ambervine Inc, with clear rules: members are 18 or over, nobody is a punchline, and nobody owes anybody anything.

What you'll find here, beyond the members area, is the stuff most hookup sites skip: what consent actually means, how to meet a stranger without being daft about it, and where to get a free sexual health check in your part of the UK. How Local Slags works covers the mechanics in two minutes.

02

Have a nose around for free; pay when you want to chat

Joining, building a profile, browsing and receiving interest cost nothing. Reading and replying to messages needs a paid membership, so you can see whether anyone in your area takes your fancy before you spend a penny.

1

Say what you're after

Be clear and honest on your profile.

2

Browse your area

See who's near you, free.

3

Chat first

Reading and replying is paid. Meet when you're both sure.

One thing to know up front: profiles are shared with partner sites in the same network, so members of those sites can see and message you too. If that matters to you, choose your photos and username with it in mind. Our privacy guide has practical tips.

Memberships renew automatically until you cancel in Settings > Billing, so set a reminder if you only want a week or a month. Checkout shows the billing name that will appear on your card statement, so you can check it before you pay. The prices page explains renewal, cancelling and the optional extras in full.

04

Consent is the whole point

Casual doesn't mean anything goes. Consent is a clear, freely given yes to a specific thing, from someone who is able to choose. Saying yes to a drink, a kiss or coming back to yours is not a yes to everything after it, and anyone can change their mind at any point, including halfway through. Someone who is too drunk or high to make a decision can't consent at all.

The law in all three UK legal systems is built on the same idea of free choice. Our safety and consent page sets out what each one says, with links to the legislation.

05

Meeting someone new? Do these five things first

  1. Keep chatting on the site until you're comfortable sharing a number.
  2. Meet somewhere public for the first time: a pub, a café, a busy bar.
  3. Tell a friend who you're meeting, where, and when you'll check in.
  4. Sort your own way there and home, and keep your phone charged.
  5. Leave whenever you like. You don't need a reason.

The meeting safely checklist goes into each one, including what to do if a date doesn't match their photos.

06

Free, confidential testing wherever you live

Sexual health clinics across the UK test and treat sexually transmitted infections free of charge, and you don't need to see your GP first. Many areas also post out free home testing kits, though who runs them, and who qualifies, depends on where you live. Our region pages list the actual local services, with booking numbers:

New to all this? The free STI testing guide explains what happens at a clinic and how home kits work, and the sexual health hub covers PrEP, PEP and emergency contraception.

07

If they ask for money, they're not after a date

Scammers use dating sites too. The tells: they ask for money, gift cards or crypto, however good the story; they push you to move to WhatsApp or email straight away; their photos look like a magazine shoot; the details of their life don't add up. Never send money to someone you haven't met.

In England, Wales and Northern Ireland, report fraud to Report Fraud on 0300 123 2040. In Scotland, call Police Scotland on 101. Our guides on spotting a fake profile and reporting a dating scam walk through the rest.

08

Who's actually behind Local Slags

Local Slags is run by Ambervine Inc, a Delaware company based in Newark, Delaware. It's part of a network of dating sites that share one member database, which is why profiles appear on partner sites. Every profile photo is reviewed before it goes live; what members write about themselves isn't checked, and we won't pretend otherwise.

Our guides are written from primary sources such as the NHS, the police and the legislation itself, and each one is dated. The about page explains how we work and how to reach us, and the key facts page puts the company details, ages and billing in one place.

Questions people ask

Is Local Slags free?

Joining, creating a profile and having a look around cost nothing. To read and reply to messages you need a membership. The members area shows the price of each plan before you pay.

What will it look like on my bank statement?

Checkout shows the billing name that will appear on your statement, so you can see exactly how the charge is described before you pay.

How do I stop paying?

Memberships renew automatically, so cancel in Settings > Billing before the next payment date. To remove your profile altogether, click your avatar and go to Settings > Delete Account.

Who can join?

Adults aged 18 and over, full stop. Local Slags is for consenting adults after casual dating, and most of its members and guides are UK-focused.

Does my profile show up anywhere else?

Yes. Profiles are shared with partner sites in the same network, so members of those sites can find and message you as well.

Are members verified?

Not by default. Every profile photo is reviewed and members can add an optional paid ID badge, but nobody checks what people write about themselves, so run through the safety checklist before you meet.
